The first in a series
profiling important art pieces in the Saatchi
Collection. This week: Oilbaby by Judy Callaghan.

Playing with perceptions
of scale and meaning, Callaghan's work is a giant
glass tank filled with thousands of gallons of extra virgin olive oil,
with
a giant child's doll in it. The doll's head is missing, prompting
questions
about mutation, the horrors of war and human destiny. The oil is
motionless,
prompting questions about imperialism, marinading and contemporary notions
of 'art response'. Serves BBC 3-4.
